Sofa to Go (TM.)

I love puns and plays on words, believing that they reveal something about ourselves that would otherwise stay hidden. There is nothing particularly deep about this small linocut, which was inspired by seeing several pages of ads for sofas in the Sunday supplements. I had fun thinking about how words such as 'sofa', 'settee' and 'couch' could be used in a variety of contexts.

The print is inked in black but small pieces of tissue and metallic paper have been added and are incorporated in the print when it is produced. This is a process called chine colle. Each print is unique as the additions are always placed at random.
