Patricia and the Therapeutic Devices

I have produced this screenprint in a variety of colour combinations and it featured in my MA Exhibition at Dean Clough in Halifax in September 2004.

My theme was dreams and the unconscious. Dreams are often a mixture of incongruous elements, pleasent or threatening which, at the time, appear to make sense. 'Patricia' was a reference to Patricia Highsmith who, I would like to think, is my artistic counterpart. Her work has an unsettling quality; her characters struggle with guilt and with the complexity of life. My images, although often decorative, have an 'edge' which comes across on closer inspection.
